You can never be too secure. When security of your premises is a key concern, look to RYCOM's Iris Imaging biometric security solutions to provide your first, and most critical line of defense. Unlike other security solutions that rely on credentials that can be transferred (pass codes, proximity cards) or easily duplicated biometrics (fingerprints, voice coding) Iris Imaging provides a positive identification of an individual.
The Technology
Iris Imaging is an advanced form of biometric security that uses an image of the human iris like a "fingerprint" for identification purposes. The iris has been chosen for this purpose because it is unique for each human, stable throughout life and cannot be modified or disguised. Iris imaging technology is high sophisticated and can detect and reject any attempt to bypass or fool the identification process; including the use of contact lenses, prosthetic eyes, and image projection systems. Iris Imaging is used throughout the world by major corporations and governments and provides an effective:
- Stand-alone security solution that can be layered / integrated with an existing security system if required
-
Full scalable solution that can be deployed over time along side existing legacy security systems
-
Field proven and government approved solution (CBSA, NEXUS Air)
Security Factors
The odds of two people having the same iris patterning is 1 in 1072 (population of the earth is approximately 1013) making Iris Imaging the ideal technology for situations where positive verification of an individual is required to grant access. Even if security is compromised through the transfer of codes, keys, cards or fingerprint imprints, iris imaging will continue to bar access to unauthorized persons. Further, in the cases where legitimate cards, keys, codes or finger prints are presented Iris imaging can provide positive confirmation of an individual as irises uniquely identifies the person, NOT the security ID devices they carry.
Deployment
In use, each individual requiring access is enrolled into the system by imaging their irises; This is a non-intrusive process that "photographs" the iris region of the eye. The resulting images are processed to create a unique iris identifier which is saved within a database within the hardware, or remotely located and accessed over a secure network. Access to an area is granted by comparing an individual's iris identifier with those already stored within the database, if a match is found, and the user has the right security clearance, the system allows access; otherwise no access is granted.
RYCOM has been involved in the design and deployment of Iris Imaging systems throughout Canada. From financial institutions, border security and data centers customers look to RYCOM to provide the technology that keep their key assets fully protected.
