There is a major shift taking place in the world of telecommunications. In the next few years, all of the major telephone companies will be switching from traditional analog and digital phone systems to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) as the new standard of communication across their networks. Although older technologies will still be supported, it is very clear that the future belongs to VoIP. VoIP is the best option for a new or upgraded phone system and RYCOM, in cooperation with Nortel, will be your unified communications partner- allowing your company can take full advantage of this truly beneficial technology.

RYCOM's VoIP Solutions provide many new features specifically tailored for the needs of today's workplace. These include PC-based soft phone clients for remote workers and find-me-follow-me call routing for automatic call forwarding both in and out of the office. Additionally, because VoIP provides one cable that connects both your phone and internet line, it creates a unified communications system that brings together voice, data, and e-mail to the desktop. This represents a key cost advantage: When installed as part of an office cabling project, this single cable for both voice and data can reduce the cost of the job by up to 50%. Also, VoIP can be deployed as a fully telco neutral solution, allowing your company to find the lowest cost phone and data rates.

RYCOM VoIP Solutions can help you make VoIP a key part of your network communication strategy, and will help you get the maximum value from your investment. As you explore this exciting new technology, consider RYCOM as your prime network resource.

Voice over IP (VOIP) is a technology that uses internet protocol (IP) to transfer voice communications in much the same way that web pages and e-mail are transferred. Each piece of voice data is digitized in to packets and then sent across the local area network (LAN) to communications server. The communications server in turn handles the exchange of call data with your local telephone provider or the public internet. VoIP is unique in that it allows you to unify messages by integrating VoIP enabled voice signals with faxes and other data (Unified Communications) that can be received and viewed in a common application - such as desktop or mobile email program. This same technology allows for "find-me follow-me" routing, where the system is able to forward a call or data anywhere in the office, or to your mobile if you are outside the office.
